What???

I grabbed a few new songs from our worship team's binder so I could learn them and I have had one stuck in my head for about two weeks. It's 'Unfailing Love' and although I love the concept and the song I keep tripping over the line, "Everything, you hold in your hand. Yet you make time for me, I can't understand".

What's a stupid line like that doing in a good song? It bugs me, even though I learned a while back not to take your theology out of so called worship songs. In fact, it bugs me a lot. I always get irate about words that lead us the wrong way, like "more of you and less of me" and "yet you make time for me, I can't understand."

He made time for me the instant Adam bit into that apple. He altered all of time for me, he changed all of time, he worked the fullness of time in my favour, he invaded time with his Son with me in mind..........

He's not too busy to make time for me. Holding the universe in his hand isn't a problem for him, it doesn't create a time problem or get him off focus. He has nothing but time for me.

We have to understand that we are his desire, his heart is passionate towards us, he has given up everything to be with us, to spend time with us. We are never a distraction, never a bother, never second on his To Do list.

That we would sing a song that tells him we think it's a surprise He'd make time for us must make him cringe. I can see him snapping to attention, smoke shooting out of his nostrils, lightnings and thunders crashing around his throne, angels and seraphim scattering everywhere as he leaps to his feet and bellows, "What????"

Not sure what he'd do next and I don't plan on finding out. I ain't singing that line. And I ain't singing 'more of you and less of me' either.

Here's to the First and the Last,
Pa
