Prophets of Beef

There are prophets in every area of life, some real, some false. The latest prophetic announcement out of Great Britian is that world beef supply will not be able to meet demand within 5 years. They have advised their country to source and secure supplies of beef before the shortages start. Essentially the picture is that Asian and Indian countries will demand more beef than beef production countries (Canada, US, Brazil and Argentina) can supply. As income goes up in any country beef is one of the first things that's added to the menu and, as we know, income is going up in Asian and Indian countries.

If you live in ultra rich North America you do not have to worry. You can outbuy anybody in the world and the only people who are going to go without are the people going without now. Unless we decide to share.

Which brings me to another thought. I have been trying to be led by the Spirit in the giving of money, feeling that if I do that then I'm doing what He's doing and not doing what I want to do or what an institution tells me to do. It's kind of a learning thing with me right now. I wait for what I feel is the leading then I act. Not that I have to have the leading every time, I know you should do your part in support of ministries, it's just that I'm trying to learn this other part of it.

My experience so far is that the Lord will tell me when to start giving money away but I find it hard to wait for him. This Sunday Ma and I were talking to a couple of people and afterwards Ma started telling me about one of them. That leading that I had been looking for landed on me very distinctly and I began remembering all the scriptures about the poor and knowing that the Lord was telling me to give money to this person. It was clear, it was distinct, it was solid with no second guessing, it was backed up by the Word. It was exactly what I had been waiting for.

Now I am wondering how much. Part of the practise is to conform to the "give all, sell all, leave all" outline that I see in the gospels. Only God knows how much this person needs and that's the question I'm asking now. If it's a big number I'm asking for faith to be obedient.
